AstraChat is cross-platform XMPP client and server software for mobile and desktop. AstraChat clients are available for Android , iOS, Microsoft Windows, macOS and Linux desktops [2][3]. AstraChat is based on the XMPP protocol with enhancements to support encryption, message synchronisation, Voice-over-IP (VOIP), voice message, location sharing and file transfer[4][5].

AstraChat was developed by Rockliffe Systems, Inc. Rockliffe is based in Campbell, CA and has subsidiaries in the United Kingdom and in Indonesia. Rockliffe has been developing secure desktop and mobile communications software since 1995[6]. AstraChat is listed on several websites that host jabber accounts[7][8][9][10][11][12]

    Features[edit]

The AstraChat client applications are compatible with all standard third party XMPP servers and are free of charge. The AstraChat server provides for hosted or on premise deployment options. The AstraChat server currently supports Active Directory, LDAP and SQL authentication[13]. When used with the AstraChat server, AstraChat clients support optional end-to-end encryption using OTR (Off the Record) and also support SSL and TLS encryption.[14]
