Atindra Nath Nandy was an Indian mining engineer and academic who served as the head of the Department of Metallurgy at Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Varanasi.[1]
Early life and education
Atindra Nath Nandy received his higher education at the University of Glasgow, where he studied Naval architecture and technical drawing. He graduated with a First Class distinction.[2]
Academic and professional career
Nandy was trained as a mining engineer and pursued a career in engineering education and administration. He was associated with Banaras Hindu University, where he rose to become the head of the Department of Metallurgy.[3][4]
As head of department, he was involved in academic leadership, curriculum development, and the advancement of metallurgical and mining education at B.H.U., one of India’s leading centres for engineering and scientific research.[5][6]
Personal life
Professor Nandy was the father of Leena Nandy Dhar, Amit Nandy, and Ashim Nandy.
