Medium’s Authority Magazine is an American Digital Magazine that carries in-depth interviews with leaders in Popular Culture, Business, Technology, Wellness and Social Impact.[1] The magazine was first published in 2018. The magazine publishes around 50 interviews every day. Its editor-in-chief is Yitzi Weiner.[2][3]

History[edit]

Authority Magazine was launched in 2018 by Yitzi Weiner with the help of Kristen Marquet. Until 2018 Weiner ran an interview series called “5 Things I Wish Someone Told Me” which was published in The Huffington Post.[4] In 2018, when Huffpost ended its contributor platform, Weiner decided to leverage the relationships he had made from Huffpost and launched a new platform using Medium. Authority Magazine is devoted to in-depth interviews with leaders who are helping to make a positive social impact.

As of 2021 Authority Magazine has published more than 50,000 interviews, making it the largest publication of its kind on Medium. Authority Magazine has interviewed many notable leaders such as Ava DuVernay, Chris Evans (actor), Venus Williams, Shaquille O’Neal, Peyton Manning, Snoop Dogg, Floyd Mayweather, Paris Hilton, Baron Davis, Jewel, Flo Rida, Kerry Washington, Marc Cuban, Biz Stone, Bobbi Brown, Daymond John, Seth Godin, Guy Kawasaki, Lori Greiner, Robert Herjavec, Alicia Silverstone, Lindsay Lohan, Cal Ripkin Jr., Jillian Michaels, Jenny Craig, John Sculley, Derek Hough, Bethenny Frankel, Mika Brzezinski, Blac Chyna, Joseph Abboud, Rachel Hollis, Daniel Pink, Kevin Harrington, and Dr. Jane Goodall.

Its writers have also interviewed the C-Suite executives of companies such as Google, Twitter, Spotify, Microsoft, eBay, and many others.

Authority Magazine has more than 250 different interview topics, and hundreds of leaders do interviews within each topic. Some of the popular interview topics are Social Impact Heroes,[5][6][7] Women Of The C-Suite,[8][9] Rising Stars,[10][11] 5 Steps We Must Take To Truly Create An Inclusive, Representative, and Equitable Society,[12] 5 Things Parents Can Do To Help Their Children Thrive and Excel In School,[13] 5 Things We Must Do to Improve the U.S. Healthcare System,[14] 5 Things I Wish Someone Told Me When I First Started,[15][16] Telehealth Best Practices,[17] Women Leading The Finance Industry.[18]

Notable interviews[edit]

In 2021, Authority Magazine writer Ilysa Panitz did the last known interview with actor Willie Garson of Sex and The City before he passed away. This interview was cited by many notable publications like the New York Times,[19] Vanity Fair,[20] New York Daily News,[21] The Sun,[22][23] Us Magazine,[24] and Today.[25]

Authority Magazine also did one of the few interviews with actress Charlotte Kirk, the actress at the center of a scandal that led to the ouster of Warner Bros. CEO Kevin Tsujihara and NBCUniversal Vice Chairman Ron Meyer. This interview was cited by The Wrap.[26][27]
