Aviencloud is an independent electronic music YouTube channel based in Frankfurt, Germany. Founded by Anas Aarouch in 2013, the channel showcases new musicians and illustrators from around the world.
Known for its diverse selection of lesser-known artists at the time in music and digital art, Aviencloud reached 100,000 subscribers on YouTube in June 10, 2018. As of October 2024, the channel has over half-million subscribers and over 370 million views.
History
Founding (2013)
Aviencloud founded by Anas Aarouch (born 1997) started the YouTube channel in July 23, 2013 driven by a passion for music and digital art for Anime. In 2013 Soundcloud was well-known and used frequently by Aviencloud. After continually sharing songs and artworks with friends Anas decided to create Aviencloud and creatively intertwine the music and digital art together to share and promote the artists in his way with the world.
Resonance between music and illustrations (2013–present)
Aviencloud has featured several artists early in their careers, including Forrest Frank,[1] who later gained global recognition.
Galdive first gained widespread attention through Aviencloud's YouTube channel with the release of 'Lotus' in 2019,[2] the song generated over 4.8 million views on Aviencloud's YouTube channel.[3] Their collaboration continued with several releases, including the successful releases 'A Friend' and 'Stay'[4][5]. Galdive's work received recognition at the Indonesian Music Awards, winning Best Contemporary R&B Duo/Group/Collaboration in 2023 for 'A Friend' and in 2024 for 'Stay'. After signing with Avoca Drive,[6] Galdive collaborated with Aviencloud to release an exclusive fan-created music video for the song 'Puzzle'.[7][8]
The Illustrators DaisukeRichard, popman3580, RossDraws, apapico found by Aviencloud early on along with Rolua, Sohin and ARUTERA gained over time a great audience. Rolua, Sohin and ARUTERA's success was also featuring on PIXIV's VISIONS EDGE.[9]
Relationship of record labels and collectives (2013-present)
Aviencloud established collaborative relationships with several electronic music record labels and collectives. An early partnership with Night Owl Collective complimented the channel's musical direction.[10] In 2019, Aviencloud began collaborating with CloudKid resulting in many uploads on Aviencloud's YouTube channel.[11][12][13] Notably featuring the release 'Ghost Town', which generated 38.4 million streams on Spotify,[14] with features on popular music channels as with MrSuicideSheep, xKito, GalaxyMusic, MrMomMusic and 7Clouds.[15]
The channel continues expanding its partnerships further including various well-known electronic music labels. Monstercat releases featured on the channel including works by Haywyre, inverness and Jack Newsome.[16][17] Similarly, NoCopyrightSounds (NCS) releases by artists such as PLEEG, Heuse, WOLFHOWL and Riell were showcased on Aviencloud's channel[18][19]. Following the launch of Aviencloud Records in 2020, artist P3PPER gained recognition in the EDM scene through the label, which led to his releases with NoCopyrightSounds (NCS), one of the leading copyright-free music labels in the world.[20]
Aviencloud's Influence (2013-present)
Early on Aviencloud is becoming known for his collection of various outstanding music and art. Since 2017, Aviencloud has been increasingly recognized in Asia, particularly in Japan, China, and Korea.[21][22] It has built a reputation for discovering early-stage artists globally.[23]
Aviencloud inspires artists in Japan. In a 2019 interview with Real Sound, Japanese electronic music artists Jean and Tsuyoshi of the band SUPER★DRAGON cited Aviencloud as a source of inspiration for their music. Jean mentioned appreciating Aviencloud's curated future bass tracks, particularly those featuring vocal chops and anime-like voices, while Tsuyoshi noted that he discovered future bass through Aviencloud, which influenced their band's sound.[24]
The first online festival Binary Skies Festival by Good Society was streamed on Aviencloud's YouTube channel featuring Audius, Stereofox and Phuture Collective and hosted by RaneRaps.[25]
The vision and start of Aviencloud Records (2020–present)
The concept of an independent music label originated from the community. Over the years, Aviencloud received numerous inquiries regarding the use of its uploads. In response to this feedback, Aviencloud launched Aviencloud Records to offer royalty-free (DMCA-free) music across various genres, including electronic dance music, future bass, electronic pop, R&B, Soul, Hip Hop, glitch hop and more.
Aviencloud Records achievements (2020–present)
In July 2020, Aviencloud's independent record label, Aviencloud Records, was founded. After a year, the record label had archived over 11.7 million streams on the music streaming platform Spotify.[26] Aviencloud partnered with LabelRadar to expand the record label Aviencloud Records.[27][28]
On April 16, 2021, P3PPER's single 'Without' was released, marking the label's entry into the EDM scene. Following this, P3PPER's music was featured on prominent electronic music platforms, including UKF Music and NoCopyrightSounds (NCS).[29]
DAMPSTATE's single 'I Don't Give A F*ck About It' was released on July 2, 2021.[30] By December 2023, the track played over 1 million views across various YouTube channels.
In October 2021, Flavio's 'Filthy Flying Cat' was released, gaining attention from electronic dance music publications. The track was featured in EDM.com's 'New EDM Release Radar' series and covered by We Rave You.[31][32]
