Azerbaijan—Rwanda relations refer to the bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Rwanda in the political, socio-economic, cultural and other spheres.
Diplomatic relations[edit]
Diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Rwanda were established on May 31, 2004.[1]
Since 2019, the Extraordinary Ambassador of Rwanda to Azerbaijan is Williams Nkurunziza.[2] Azerbaijan's Ambassador to Rwanda is Elman Abdullayev.[3]
High-level visits[edit]
On May 5–6, 2017, the first lady of Rwanda, Janet Kagame, visited Azerbaijan to participate in the IV Global Forum on Intercultural dialogue, held in Baku.[3]
On October 10, 2017, the Azerbaijani Ambassador to Rwanda presented his credentials to the President of Rwanda, Paul Kagame.[3]
In October 2017, Paul Kagame, met with the Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Ethiopia, Elman Abdullayev. It was noted that Rwanda is interested in cooperation with Azerbaijan in such areas as economy, education, transport, ICT, etc.[4][5]
In May 2018, during the Transform Africa Summit in Kigali Paul Kagame, met with the Chairman of «Azercosmos», Rashad Nabiyev. Prospects for cooperation in the field of telecommunications and satellites were discussed.[6]
On February 21–24, 2019, the Azerbaijani Ambassador to Rwanda Elman Abdullayev met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and İnternational Cooperation of Rwanda Richard Sezibera.[3]
Economic cooperation[edit]
According to statistics from the United Nations trade office (COMTRADE), in 2016 Azerbaijan's exports to Rwanda totaled 601 US dollars.[7]
International cooperation[edit]
In the international arena, cooperation is carried out within the framework of various international organizations.[4]
