Azu Punia
[1][2][3]Azad Singh Punia is a research scholar in the department of history at Panjab University, Chandigarh. He completed his PhD thesis in 2024 and received his degree on 12 March 2025, by the President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu. Born in Kuchrana Kalan, Jind district, Haryana on 22 December 1991. He secured the 1st position in his matriculation examination in 2007, within the Uchana block. After completing schooling with a non-medical background, he enrolled in a BA at P.G.G.C. Sector 11, Chandigarh, and earned the 2nd position in the college, receiving a college colour award. He completed his postgraduate studies at Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi. In June 2014, he qualified for the UGC NET JRF in History.
He is currently serving as an officer in the Central Armed Police Force[4] and has served in Ladakh and the North East. He is a trained mountaineer and commando.
