Babu Prof. Umanath Singh (1936 – 20 May 2017) was an Indian professor and founder of Uttar Pradesh History Congress who served as the Professor of History in Avadh University.[1][2]
Early life and education[edit]
Singh was born on 1936 in Kohra, Oudh, British India. His father is Kunwar Pratap Bahadur Singh and hails from the royal Kohra (estate) of Oudh. His great grandfather Babu Bhoop Singh was the ruler of Kohra and prominent leader in Indian Rebellion of 1857 against the British rule.[3][4]
He completed his Bachelor of Arts degree from Banaras Hindu University in 1956 and Master of Arts in Ancient history from same place in 1958. He also obtained Master of Arts in Medieval History from Gorakhpur University in 1970.[2][5]
