BEAM is a business instant messaging and social networking service based in Singapore. It was founded by software developer and angel investor Kenneth Ho alongside Wallace Ho and Benjamin Tan, who are Malaysians. The service was officially launched in April 2016, and incorporated on 11th August 2016 upon raising the first round of venture capital financing [1][2][3].

BEAM (short for "Bridging Entrepreneurs And Movers") initially started out as a community event to connect Malaysian entrepreneurs with each other to foster warm introductions and business collaborations [4]. As the event(s) gained increased popularity across the country, the founders proceeded to launching a mobile app to create a more seamless communication experience between event attendees[5]. Since then, BEAM has evolved into becoming one of the largest online hubs for business in SouthEast Asia, ANZ, and Japan [6][7].

BEAM may be accessed by a large range of desktopslaptopstablet computers, and smartphones over the Internet and mobile networks. After registering to use the website or mobile app, visitors can create a user profile indicating their name, designation, work/company information, and more[8]. Users can follow other users to receive updates, exchange messages, broadcast status updates, submit fundraising proposals to investors [9], apply for job positions, RSVP for events, and read news articles on the platform .

BEAM generates most of its revenue from premium subscriptions allowing users to increase account privileges, access premium content, and further verify their account for authenticity.
