BFF Banking Group is a bank, founded in Italy in 1985. It operates in 9 European countries: Italy, Croatia, Czech Republic, France, Greece, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia and Spain.[2][3][4]
The Group is listed on the Italian Stock Exchange,[5][6] regulated by the Bank of Italy and by Consob.[7]
History[edit]
BFF was founded in 1985 by a group of pharmaceutical companies to manage and collect public entities’ receivables.[3][8]
In 2010, BFF entered the Spanish market.[9][10]
BFF went on to receive its banking license in 2013, and it began cross-border activities in Portugal in 2014.[11][12]
In 2016, the Group acquired Magellan, a Polish company.[5][13] The following year, BFF was listed on the Italian Bourse.[5] By 2018, BFF was active in Italy, Spain, Portugal, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Greece and Croatia.[5][9][14][15][16]
BFF acquired IOS Finance in Spain from Deutsche Bank, in 2019.[17][18] That same year it opened a new branch in Poland[19] and started to operate in France.[20]
In 2020, BFF signed a binding agreement with Equinova UK HoldCo Limited for the acquisition of DEPObank (Banca Depositaria Italiana S.p.A.), an Italian player in the securities services and banking payments' sectors,[21][22] originally known as ICBPI, then renamed under this brand at the time of the creation of Nexi.[23][24] It also opened a new branch in Greece.[25][26]
In March 2021, BFF finalized the acquisition and subsequent merger by incorporation of DEPObank, thus becoming the largest specialty finance player in Italy.[4][27][28]
