Bahman Tavoosi (Persian: بهمن طاووسی; )born 2 February 1984 is a Canadian film director, producer and writer of Iranian origin.
Biography
He was born in Tehran, Iran and moved to Canada in 2006. His first feature film Dress Rehearsal for an Execution (2013), reenacts the Pulitzer prize winning photo Firing Squad in Iran by Jahangir Razmi. The film received positive reviews from press and critics upon its premier at Hot Docs film Festival in 2014.
His second feature The Names of the Flowers (2020), brought him the Jury Award of Tallinn Black Nights film Festival, Best Feature film at Venice Film Week, and other international recognitions. The film was also featured in festivals such as Beijing, Mill Valley, São Paulo ( Mostra ) among others. The Names of the Flowers narrates the meeting of a countryside Bolivian teacher with Ernesto Che Guevara moments before his execution in the village of La Higuera.
Bahman Tavoosi currently resides in Montreal, Canada.
