Balaji is an Indian film actor, comedian and anchor, who works in the Tamil film industry. He is commonly known as "Thadi Balaji" (Bearded Balaji) by the media due to his omnipresent beard and frail appearance.

Balaji started his career as a film actor, making his debut in the Tamil film Nandhini (1997), directed by Manobala. Later he moved to television in 1999, debuting through the serial Mayavi Marichan in the lead role which was telecasted in Sun TV. The serial was a huge success at that time, through which Balaji was able to make a transition into films as a result of many offers. Balaji has commonly portrayed supporting roles and as a comedian, with the former being associated as being friends with the film protagonists.[1] Besides acting, Balaji has also worked as an anchor and television show judge in Kalakka Povathu Yaaru which aired on Vijay TV. He has also participated in the second season of Bigg Boss Tamil as one of the original contestants. He was evicted on day 97.
