Barbara D. Samorajczyk (Sam-or-Isaac; Polish pronunciation: bar-BAR-a saa-moe-RYE-chick /bar'bara samɔ'rajtʂɨk/) is an American politician from Annapolis, Maryland and a former member of the County Council of Anne Arundel County, Maryland.

A Democrat, Samorajczyk is a lawyer who has worked for various real estate and development companies in Washington, D.C. and Northern Virginia.

Personal life[edit]

Samorajczyk is married with one child, Amy Webb, and has three grandchildren, Brianna, Sean and Matt Hogan. She was formerly married to former Secretary of the Navy and U.S. Senator Jim Webb.[citation needed]

Political life[edit]

In the 1970s, Samorajczyk worked in the office of the Territorial Planning Commission in the office of Carlos Camacho, former Governor of Guam. When Samorajczyk first filed to run for the County Council, she filed as a Republican. She withdrew from the race, and re-entered the race as a Democrat.[citation needed]

Throughout late 2005 and early 2006, there was widespread speculation as to whether or not Samorajczyk would run for Anne Arundel County Executive. However, on March 1, 2006, she announced that she would be joining Sheriff George Johnson's (D-Anne Arundel) campaign for County Executive as its environmental advisor. However, just days before the filing deadline for candidates, Samorajczyk filed to run for the Maryland House of Delegates in District 30 after Dick Damato withdrew from the race. She subsequently lost that race by a slim margin.[1]
