Early life and education[edit]

Wee was born on 28 March 1964, in Margaret Drive, Singapore. To support his family, he began working at age 14 as his uncle’s assistant in the construction industry, making swing doors, followed by enlistment in the Singaporean National Service as a clerk. Afterwards, he worked in several 5-star hotels where he was encouraged by one of the senior managers to take courses on interpersonal development which eventually led to a career change in financial planning and training.[2]

In 2009, Wee enrolled in an alternative learning university based in the US called the International University of Professional Studies in Hawaii, USA. He graduated from there with a MA in professional coaching and human development in 2014. He then completed his PhD from the same university in 2020 with a dissertation on The Criticality of Vertical Development in NLP Coaching in an Intensely VUCA World.[2]

Career[edit]

Wee founded Mind Transformation in 1997 and has, since then, delivered training programs on communication, neuro-linguistic programming, leadership, management, and other topics in various countries.

From 2001 till 2003, Wee worked with Robert Dilts, director of NLP University, on the transition of National Healthcare Group Polyclinics from a government-owned to a semi-private commercial organization by delivering workshops on leadership and management skills. Then, in 2004, he trained the executives and directors of Axa Wealth Management to develop an NLP-based consultative selling approach. Wee trained the team leaders of Rohde & Schwarz from eleven countries in 2005 on the NLP leadership model based on the work of Dilts.

Wee developed a training programme for the Basic Military Training Centre of Singapore from 2006 till 2008. Over the course of ten phases, Wee gathered information from commanders and recruits to develop the programme and train four selected commanders on coaching the recruits. He delivered a similar training programme from 2010 to 2011 to the Indonesian Bank Tabungan Pensiunan Nasional (BTPN) via a translator across different provinces.

The Singapore University of Social Sciences appointed Wee as the chairman of the Programme Advisory Committee for Graduate Diploma in Professional Life-coaching Programme in 2020.
