Bass boost

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Bass boost are methods that increases the perceived loudness of the bass frequencies (most prominently sub-bass from anything below 130Hz). This is often done using equalizer, although other methods exists that are capable of achieving the similar effect albeit with different qualities for each method.[1]

Methods[edit]

Equalization, or the changes to the frequency response are commonly used to achieve the bass boost effect by boosting the first few frequencies, usually around 31Hz or up to 200Hz. As for graphic EQs, first few bands are adjusted, however the exact amount depends on the frequency distribution and the approximate frequency below specified one to set, whereas for parametric EQs, usually a low-shelf, peaking, or even resonant high-pass filter (the ones that actually cut inaudible frequencies) to boost the particular sub frequency.

Another method is delaying the phase response for bass frequencies, so it rings longer, therefore a perceived bass boost without a gain increase on low frequencies.[citation needed]
