The Battle of Gebak-Ghala was the 5th and final battle of the Aukh insurgency and resulted in a victory for Aukh and their allies, granting the Aukhs their independence.[1][2][3][4]
History[edit]
Timur, who was already preparing for an invasion of the Golden Horde, sent a messenger to the Aukhs, expressing support for their struggle against the Mongols. The united forces of Aukh, the Gazikumukh Shamkhalate and the Timurid Empire met the Mongols near Mt. Gebak-Ghala[lower-alpha 1], near the modern village of Dylym. In the battle that ensued, the Golden Horde was defeated, ending the Aukh insurgency. The Chechen chronicle Aukhar Teptar notes that after the battle, the Mongols "Went North and never returned again".[5][2][4]
