Be! is the debut EP by South Korean girl group Bvndit under MNH Entertainment and distributed by Stone Music Entertainment. The album was released on November 05, 2019, with the lead single "Dumb".
Background and release
On October 21, 2019, MNH Entertainment announced that Bvndit would have their first comeback with mini album, titled "Be!", six months after the release of Bvndit, Be Ambitious!. It was revealed that the EP would be released on November 5 at 6 p.m KST. With the release, the agency stated that they would show the colours of Bvndit through the mini album, and planning to return with an upgraded appearance.[1]
From October 25 to November 4 teaser photos were released showing a more exotic concept, featuring the members and a horse. Teasers for their music video were also released, showing a change to a more intense atmosphere than their "Hocus Pocus" music video.[2][3] On October 25, 2019 the track listing for the EP was revealed, disclosing that the EP contained six songs: Be!, Dumb, Fly, Dramatic, Hocus Pocus and My Error. It was revealed that the lead single for the release would be "Dumb". Three of the songs featured are from previous releases; with "Hocus Pocus" and "My Error" featuring on the "Bvndit, Be Ambitious!" release, and "Dramatic" previously being released as a digital single.[4] On November 5 The EP was released on various music portals, and the music video for the lead single "Dumb" was released online and through the Naver V app.[5]
Promotion
To promote their release, the group held a showcase for the album at the Hongdae Move Hall in Seogyo-dong, Seoul. They performed their lead single "Dumb" as well as the intro song of the album "Be!".[6]
Bvndit held their comeback stage on November 7 on M Countdown, performing "Be!" and "Dumb" from their album.[7] This was followed by performances on Music Bank, Show! Music Core and Inkigayo, from November 8 until December 21.[8][9]
Music Video
The music video for the lead single "Dumb", directed by Rigend film, was released on November 5, 2019, in conjunction with the release of the EP. The single was choreographed by freemind.[10][11] The video boasted a darker colour scheme, mixed with various bright warm hues in line with the more intense atmosphere of the song. The design also included more latin inspired elements, reflecting the song's latin influence, reflected in the outfits worn by the group, and the set being likened to a "hot sunset".[12][13]
