Beauty Community is the third studio album by Canadian power pop band, The Elwins. The album was released on October 11, 2017, via Hidden Pony Records.
Recording
Recording for the band's third album started in 2016, following the band’s Western Canadian tour. Similar to their previous album Play for Keeps, Beauty Community showcases tight guitars and pop hooks. Again, Derek Hoffman was chosen to produce and engineer the album.
The album is a deviation from previous albums which featured Matthew Sweeney exclusively as the band's lead vocalist. Beauty Community sees Frankie Figliomeni singing lead vocals on "Don't Walk Away From Me", "Never Felt So Good", "Watercolour" and "C'mon C'mon".
When describing the naming process of the album, Matthew Sweeney stated, "It was actually Travis’ fiancée who said the phrase “Beauty Community” and Trav wrote it down. We thought it was a cool way of describing the kind of environment we want to create as a band."
Release & Promotion
The Elwins supported the release of the album with tours and a number of festival appearances including the Global Citizen Concert in Vancouver, BC, the Wolf Island Music Festival and the Bentway Social Sundays Festival. [2] [3].
