Beauty pageants and feminism

The reasons for this, among others, are that beauty pageants reinforce the idea that women should be judged according to their external appearance, and that the essence of a woman is to look beautiful and attractive. It is also claimed that in beauty pageants, the contestants walk on stage in swimwear and at the very least, what is seen as the exploitation of girls to promote commercial goals.
With the intensification of the feminist movement in the sixties of the twentieth century, the Miss America pageant was the target of many protests, in 1968 demonstrations were held in front of the pageant where signs were raised that read "No more Miss America".
The 1970 Miss World pageant, the women's liberation movement that invaded the stage and took back the live broadcast of the pageant.
