Bejoy Arputharaj (born 28 March 1983) is an Indian entrepreneur and visual effects professional. He is the founder and chief executive officer of Phantom Digital Effects Limited (PhantomFX), a visual effects and animation studio based in Chennai, India. He has worked in the Indian visual effects industry across film, television, and advertising. [1]
Early life and career
Arputharaj began his career in the visual effects and post-production industry, working in compositing and visual effects supervision. He later worked at Prime Focus, where he worked as a lead compositor and technical supervisor, contributing to film, broadcast, and advertising projects.
He subsequently worked as a technical supervisor at Charuvi Design Labs, contributing to animation and visual effects production.
PhantomFX
In 2011, Arputharaj founded Phantom Digital Effects Limited (PhantomFX) in Chennai, a visual effects and animation company working across film, television, and streaming productions.
In 2022, the company was listed on the SME platform of the National Stock Exchange of India.[2]
In 2024, PhantomFX established a subsidiary in China.[3]
Phantom Media Group
In 2025, Arputharaj established Phantom Media Group, a collective of visual effects and post-production studios.[4] The group includes companies such as Tippett Studio, Milk VFX, Lola Post Production, and Spectre Post.[5][6]
Industry involvement
In 2024, Arputharaj became president of the VFX, Animation and Gaming Society (VEGAS), an organization representing India's AVGC sector.[7]
