Creative Process
When creating music, Buckby's process begins with creating the blue print of the music, before focusing on improvisation, and finally the lyrics (if applicable to the song).
The Year I Was Born, Breakdown
"When creating The Year I Was Born, I came up with the chords first (A and an irregular chord) to create the basic blueprint. I went over that by adding a bassline and then a mandolin. In the left ear you can hear the mandolin and in the right ear you hear an electric guitar. In the chorus, I added another guitar and drums with a kick and a hi-hat. When it came to the lyrics, I wrote a few different options and came up with a melody line, but Amelie Smith came up with lyrics, and what she did was much better, I think."
