Ben Gimpert (born January 1979) is an American computer scientist working on artificial intelligence in finance and real estate.[1]. He is a director of research at BlackRock Inc., and was previously the CTO at Altos Research[2].
Education[edit]
Gimpert received a Bachelor of Engineering from Northwestern University[3] and a Masters in Finance from the London Business School.
Career and research[edit]
Gimpert is a director of research at BlackRock, where he studies algorithms for equities trading. Previously he served as the CTO for Altos Research. He authored the book Sequential Machine Learning (O'Reilly Media) in 2015. He co-founded the consultancy group, along with [4] that eventually became Open Street Map. He built a taxonomy browser for Encyclopaedia Britannica in 2004[5]
