Benedict Beckeld is a Swedish-American author, philosopher, and poet. Born January 16, 1980, in Uppsala to Brazilian and Jewish parents, he immigrated to America during his teenage years and spent his high school and most of his college years in New York city. He has a Ph.D. in Philosophy and Classics from Heidelberg University, Germany.[1]
After volunteering to teach English for a year in Otjombinde[2], Namibia, Beckeld became a professor at the American University of Paris. He moved back to New York City in 2014 to become a freelance writer. [3]
He has written three books: "Statements" (1999), "Art & Aesthetics" (2006, 2016),[4] and "Die Notwendigkeit der Notwendigkeit" (2013).[5][6][7][8]
His articles "ISIS. A Running Obituary."[9] (fall 2015) and "Degrees of Diversity"[10] (winter 2015) were published in The Salisbury Review and he has recently been working on the concept of oikophobia[11][12][13].
