Dr Sterling Carter
Dr. Sterling L. Carter is an American physical therapist, entrepreneur, retired U.S. Army major, and author. He is co-founder of Sterling Staffing Solutions and president of Sterling Physical Therapy & Wellness.[1][2]
Early life and education
Carter attended Langston University, where he earned a bachelor's degree in physical therapy. He later completed a master's in physical therapy at Texas Woman’s University and a Doctor of Physical Therapy at Simmons University.[3] He also completed leadership training through the Fort Bend County Chamber of Commerce Leadership Forum.[4]
Military career
Carter served for more than 25 years in the United States Army, including active duty and reserve roles. His service included deployments during Operation Desert Storm and Operation Iraqi Freedom. He retired with the rank of major and received honors including the Army Commendation Medal and the Combat Medic Badge.[5]
Business career
In 2011, Carter co-founded Sterling Staffing Solutions, a healthcare staffing firm, with his twin brother Stephen Carter.[6] The company has been ranked multiple times on the Inc. 5000 list of fastest-growing private companies in the United States.[7]
He is also president and CEO of Sterling Physical Therapy & Wellness, an outpatient clinic providing rehabilitation services.[8]
Carter and his brother launched Cartera Health, a healthcare technology firm, to address workforce shortages and operational efficiency in the post-acute care industry.[9]

He and his brother co-authored the business book Double Your Success (ForbesBooks, 2018) and launched the "Young Millionaires Series," a mentorship program for entrepreneurs in Houston.[13][14]
His awards include recognition from Diversity MBA Magazine, Color Magazine, and the Greater Houston Black Chamber.[15][16][17]
