The Bengaluru City Police (BCP) is the law-enforcement agency of Bengaluru. The BCP works under the Karnataka State Police and is headed by the Commissioner of Police, Bangalore City, currently B. Dayananda, IPS.[2]
The BCP consists of various patrol units and its jurisdiction is divided into seven zones: East, West, North, South, Central, South-East, and North-East. Each zone is further divided into three sub-divisions, each headed by an Assistant Commissioner of Police. Each sub-division consists of several police stations controlled by a Police inspector.

Bengaluru City Police Hoysala Cars
The BCP's mobile patrol consists of vehicular patrols, including Suzuki Ertiga and Toyota Innova cars called Hoysala, and bike patrols called Cheetah, which include TVS Apache, Bajaj Pulsar, and Hero Glamour Red bikes.
The BCP is one of the few police departments in India to use BlackBerry devices.[3]
History
Established in 1963, the Bengaluru City Police was the first police force in Karnataka. The first Commissioner was C. Chandi, of the rank Deputy Inspector General of Police. Today, the BCP consists of 108 Law & Order police stations and 42 Traffic Police Stations, including two all-women police stations and over 200 patrolling vehicles.
