Benita Husband
Benita Husband is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of pitt&sherry[1] and also a Fellow of Engineers Australia. She has been heavily involved in encouraging girls and women to take on careers in STEM fields,[2] and is a mentor for women on Mentor Walks.[3]
Early life[edit]
Husband was born in Queensland, Australia.[2] As a child, her family moved frequently and she attended several schools across Queensland, ACT, and Tasmania.[2] Finally, she settled in Tasmania with her family in 1995 when she was in Year 11, where she went to Elizabeth College.[4] She studied engineering at the University of Tasmania and then after graduating, moved to Melbourne with her husband.[4]
Education and career[edit]
Husband graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering with Honours in 2000.[4] She went on to study Lighting Engineering at RMIT University and graduated in 2002. In 2000, she started working as an electrical engineer at a consulting firm, Aurecon, in Melbourne.[4] In 2004, she became a registered communications distribution designer.[2] She attended Melbourne Business School in 2015 and graduated in 2016 with an Executive MBA.[1][2] She moved to Norman Disney & Young (NDY) to be their Director of Strategy in 2016.[5]
Most recently, in 2019, she moved to pitt&sherry to be their CEO.[1]
Community engagement[edit]
Husband is very actively involved in engaging women in engineering since she herself started studying.[3] For her contributions, she has been awarded two National Association of Women in Construction awards, and was also featured in the 2017 International "#Celebratingwoman" campaign.[2][3]
