Benjamin Larson
Ben Larson(1898-?) was a WWI veteran who participated in the Champagne-Marne, Aisne-Marne, St. Mihiel and Meuse-Argonne battles. Upon returning to North Dakota after the war, he married Tillie Emelia Hanson and moved to Canada. They had five children.
Ancestry
Ben was born Bernt Aneus Larsen in Norway and emigrated with his family to North Dakota in 1910. Upon becoming a US citizen, he changed his name to Ben Larson, but most of his friends and family referred to him as "Benny".
Disappearance
One day in the spring of 1929, Ben left his home in Pine River, Manitoba and was never seen or heard from again. Many in the family believed him to be the infamous "Mad Trapper of Rat River", who appeared in Fort MacPherson in 1931 under the alias of "Albert Johnson". Ben's mother, Laura, even went to her grave believing her son was the same man as the Mad Trapper.
