Benon Basheka, (born 3 July 1973) is a Ugandan academician., academic administrator and currently working as a Deputy Vice Chancellor at Kabale University, one of the Public Universities in Uganda..[1]
Early life and education[edit]
Basheka was born in Kabale district, Uganda located in the south western part of the country and later settled in Kampala after aquiring University Education[2]. Basheka graduated from Makerere University with honors in Bachelors of Arts in Political Science and Public Administration and went on to earn a Master's degree in Social Sector Planning & Management and a Masters in Project Management from Uganda management Institute. He holds a PhD in Educational Adminsiration, Planning and Managemnet from Makerere University and a PhD in Political Science and Public Administration. Basheka also has a Bachelor of Laws from Cavendish University in Uganda[3]
Career[edit]
Basheka began his Academic Career at Makerere University. He served as an Adminisrative Assistant in the Academic Registrar's office. During this period, he was also part timing as an Assistant lecturer in the Department of Community Education and Extra Mural studies. He later Joined Uganda Management Institute as a Lecturer, ultimately being appointed Chairperson of Research Committee and the Leader of Governance & Leadership Research Cluster. Upon completion of his PhD, he became an Adjunct Professor of Political Science and Public Administration at The University of Electronic Science and Technology in China. He was also a Visiting Professor of Public Administration at the University of Limpopo in South Africa.
Basheka is currently serving as a Professor of Governance[4] and the First Deputy Vice Chancellor[5] in charge of Academic affairs at Kabale University[6]. He is also an extra-ordinary professor of Governance at the North Western University Business School of South Africa[7], a Visiting professor and research fellow at the School of Governance and Public Management at the University of Johannesburg in South Africa.

Personal life[edit]
Basheka is married to Justine katureebe of Rukungiri District. basheka and Justine have two children; Elizabeth Kansiime Basheka and Elijah Tayebwa Ben Basheka[18]. Justine is educated with a Master's degree in Procurement and supply chain management from Uganda Management Institute, a Postgraduate Diploma in Procurement and A Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences from Makerere University[19]
