Biography[edit]
- At the age of 12 – Grandmaster Bernard T. Elorta started training martial arts under the supervision of Master Sigong Kockling from China who taught him hard and soft Chinese Martial Arts or Kung Fu.
- At the age of 15 – He learned the art of Tang Soo Do Karate under Sensei Casipong. Tang Soo Do Mudokwan was founded by Grandmaster Whang Kee, 10th Dan Korean Karate. ; He learned the art of Kyukoshinkai Kan founded by Grandmaster Masutashu Masuyama 10th Dan Kyokoshin Karate. At that time, he started joining Martial Art competitions organized by the International Association of Martial Arts (IAMA). It was called Knuckle Days, Blood Spoiled and Broken Bones because the fighters cannot control suffering from injuries during the competition.
- 1975 – He won the championship tournament organized by Chief Representative of IAMA-USA. Master Jesus Umbak, 7th Degree Black Belt.
- 1985 – Master Jesus Umbak passed away and his position as Chief Representative of IAMA-USA was given to GM Elorta.
- 1987 – He founded his own martial arts style known as Kungkado, a combination of Hard and Soft Techniques, Full Contact Freestyle Martial Arts. This paved the way to the creation of the Kungkado International Inc. ; He opened Martial Arts club in Manila where he introduced the Kungkado martial arts style to his beloved fellow Filipinos. His founded style gained popularity and Kungkado team started joining International Competitions organized by Filipino expatriates and Saudi national in Saudi Arabia. His team received honourable recognitions for their success in competitions. He was the Martial Arts Instructor of former action star Ramon Zamora. (Bruce Lee of the Philippines) who starred in local and international films like Karate Warrior 9, Tornado and Porontoy.
- 1989 – He was granted the WUMA International Instructor License (Ref.License No 76430) which made him a full pledged WUMA Federation Instructor. ; He became a bonifide member of the Worldwide Instructor Network.
- 1991 – Grandmaster Hanshi Lou Angel promoted him to the rank of 9th degree Black Belt. ; He was appointed as Spokesman and Chief Representative of NCMA in Middle East, India and Philippines.
- Oct. 12, 1993 – Wuma President and Founder, Master Richard “Deadly Kicker” Hopkins invited him to bring his martial arts team to compete in the WUMA European Cup, a prestigious multistyle martial arts tournament held annually in Cheltenham England. He was authorized to bring his team in the said world event every year.
- 1994 – He received an invitation letter from IAMA Australia “Regarding for Karate Championship to honor you a great Master Bernard T. Elorta requested by GrandMaster Gary Alexander, 10th Dan USA Karate. This tournament tribute for him. Yours truly, Baltazar Catolico (IAMA Australia)
- July 1, 1997 – Wuma awarded to him a Certificate of Recognition as a true Master of the Martial Arts.
- May 10, 1998 – Master Richard Hopkins invited him to the World Championship Tournament organized by WUMA and participated in by 41 countries worldwide. (WUMA, a that time, has 22,000 licensed members, 500 affiliated clubs and organizations in United Kingdom alone.) It was great for him and honor for our country that he was the first and only Filipino who received an award from the Special Guest of Honor in recognition to his outstanding dedication to the field of martial arts.
- 1999 April – He was the Guest Honor during NCMA 10th year Anniversary celebration in martial art tournament in Joplin Missouri USA.
- April 17, 1999 – He was awarded by NCMA the certificate of Appreciation in recognition to his outstanding dedication to NCMA Martial Arts School.
- May 16, 1999 – WUMA inducted him into the International Hall of Fame, the world’s most prestigious Martial Arts Award given only to the elite in acknowledgement on his years of dedication. He was featured in Balitang K where he was interviewed by TV program host, Korina Sanchez of ABS-CBN.
- 2000 – He received an invitation letter from WUMA regarding Martial Arts and Kick boxing world Championship open run by WUMA Federaion Italy.
- 2002 – He represents University of Asia and the Pacific Department Sport Science and Physical education for Fitness Instructor Development Program Module 1.
- 2011 – Master Mohammed Rabie. 7th Degree International Black Belt and Kungkado member from Egyp visited him here in Philippines. (GM Elorta was his Martial Arts Instructor who also appointed him Chief Representative of Kungkado International Inc. to Middle East, Egypt and African countries.) While in the Philippines, Master Rabbie undergone Kungkado Trainings to gain more martial arts techniques from GM Elorta. His presence in the full contact freestyle tournament held in Rainforest Pasig City was indeed an inspiration to all members of Kungkado.
- 2012 – He resigned from the 3 world martial arts organizations (WUMA. IAMA, and NCMA) and devoted his time for his worldwide functions as Founder, Head, and Chief Instructor of Kungkado International Inc. ; Certificate of Recognition was awarded to him by the worldwide Masters, Instructors and Member of Kungkado International Inc. for his outstanding performance exemplary achievements in the field of Martial Arts. Above all, for his dedication in making Kungkado Full Contact Freestyle Martial Arts. Well known in the Middle East, Canada, USA, England, Australia, and Philippines.
- Present – the fruit of his hard work and years of dedicated trainings are manifested by the fast growing number of Kungkado members and branches both local and abroad.
