Bidar University (Kannada: ಬೀದರ್ ವಿಶ್ವವಿದ್ಯಾಲಯ) is a state university located in Bidar, Karnataka, India. Established through the Karnataka State Universities (Amendment) Act, 2022 (Act No. 26 of 2022),[1] the university operates from its main campus in Bidar with modern academic infrastructure and facilities.[4] The university has received approval from the University Grants Commission.[7]

History

The university was established by the Government of Karnataka in 2022 as part of an expansion of higher education institutions in the state.[8] The university was formally launched along with eight other new universities by Chief Minister of Karnataka Basavaraj Bommai in a virtual inauguration ceremony.[9]

Leadership

Vice-Chancellor

The university is headed by Prof. B. S. Biradar as Vice-Chancellor,[3] who serves as the principal academic and administrative officer. The Vice-Chancellor is appointed by the Governor of Karnataka for a term of three years.
