Bidhan Charles Kollins Rebeiro (Bengali: বিধান রিবেরু; born 1981),[2] commonly known as Bidhan Rebeiro, is a Bangladeshi film critic, writer, journalist, translator, essayist, and teacher.[3][4][5] He is an International Federation of Film Critics jury.[6] He was also a jury member for the 75th Cannes Film Festival[7][8][9] and the third Bangladeshi to do so.[10]

Early life and career[edit]

Rebeiro was born on September 22, in Dhaka.[11] He graduated in Computer Science. He did his post-graduation from the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism of Dhaka University, with a scholarship from the Norwegian government.[12] He completed his master's in film at Stamford University Bangladesh.[2] He completed Film Appreciation Course from FTII, Pune, India.[3]

He started his literary career in 2003 by publishing his first poem book. His writings are mainly focused on films. He also writes poems, essays, and columns on literature and politics.[13]

He is associated with journalism profession since 2005.[14] He has worked for various media outlets including RTV, Baisakhi Television, ATN News, NTV.[15] He teaches as an adjunct faculty member in the Journalism department at Jahangirnagar University.[3]

He is one of the three Bangladeshi film critics to be invited as Fédération Internationale de la PRESse CInématographique jury.[16][17] He's also been a judge in several other national and international film festivals, including the 20th Dhaka International Film Festival.[18][19]

Alongside his journalistic and writing activities, Rebeiro has also made multiple documentary films and television reports.
