Big Frame is a media, management and marketing company founded in July 2011 by Sarah Penna, Steve Raymond, Jarret Myer, and Brian Brater.[6]

History[edit]

Formerly known as "The Cloud Media", the company rebranded in 2011.[7][8]

In February 2012, BAMMO[9] was launched as the first channel produced by Big Frame as part of YouTube's $100 million investment in new YouTube channels.[10]

In June 2012, Big Frame announced $3 million in seed funding.

In April 2014, Big Frame was acquired by AwesomenessTV, the digital media division of DreamWorks Animation for $15 million.[11]

Today, Big Frame's media brands have been absorbed into the operations of AwesomenessTV.

Media brands[edit]

In 2013, Big Frame launched subsidiary media brands, or vertical sub-networks.

Wonderly was the first YouTube network to focus on innovative female creators.[12] It is currently partnered with channels such as Squaresville, Kristina Horner and Overly Attached Girlfriend.[13]

Forefront.TV was started by DeStorm Power and focused on urban lifestyle and music.[14][15]

Polished was a vertical network focused on beauty, fashion and lifestyle.[16]

Outlandish was a vertical network focused on LGBT+ creators.

Viewfinder was Big Frame's custom community dashboard. Creators earn points for sharing their peer's videos within their vertical network. The points can be redeemed for a featured video placement or cash.[17] In December 2013, Viewfinder was opened to the public.[18]
