Michael Grady Stover (born December 23, 1984) better known by his stage name Big Stove, is an African American rapper, from Cleveland, Ohio.
Early life and education
Stover is and has always been about music. His idol, the late Heavy D, had given Stove the lessons he needed to be a great performer. Combining that with dominating dance moves and crazy metaphorical lyrics, you would see what era of Hip Hop he comes from.[1]
He did not always want to be Big Stove the rapper, though. In 2006, after the sudden death of his cousin, Rayshon Ford, from a fatal car accident, Stover promised his spirit to continue Rashon's dream of being a great rapper.[2] "Always musically inclined, it comes as no surprise when he's able to hold a note on his songs as he sang in both a church choir and in the choir of his Alma Mater, Kent State, before embarking on his rap career."[3]
Career
The style of rap comes from artists like Ludacris, Da Baby, Yo Gotti, T.I., and Master P. Caila Young stated, "He'll tell you, "I try to live up to the wordplay of the past emcees that have graced the stage of Hip Hop"."[1]
Not a fan of today's music, Stove tries to incorporate the past with new content. He has released four albums in the past two years. His first album, Wild Child, featured two singles that introduced him to the music industry. One of which he developed a music video for that was produced by a director named Alante. He has been on stages at SXSW, Miami Live, touring colleges, and even an international tour [1] in Canada.[4]
He has been featured on FM radio networks like WENZ 107.9, iHeart Radio 103.5 The Beat, Atlanta's K100, and many more.[5]
Other milestones
To be an all-around businessman, Stover embarked on another journey during his rap career. He wrote and illustrated two children's books that were published over the last two years. The first of the two is called The World Out There [6] and the second is called The Wild Adventures at the Zoo [7] (published by Amazon). Both books focus on teaching the youth vocabulary and rhythm by reciting the lyrics of the book. Big Stove is a former teacher for K-12, so his passion to teach and love for music are combined in his books. He has also written and published an autobiography titled Stories of a Hypocrite [8] that details the past relationships he encountered to become who he is today.[3]
