Archaeologist Vali Bakhshaliyev conducted research here. The necropolis is located on a high hill east of the ruins of the village of Billava. All the graves found here are in the direction of Qibla. The headstones are not oriented, they are made of flat stones. According to archaeologists, some tombs are surrounded by rectangular river stones, while others are completely covered with stones. Glazed and unglazed ceramics of the medieval period were found in the territory of the necropolis. Researchers date the Billava necropolis to the IX-XX centuries.[1] This necropolis is important in terms of studying the Middle Ages in the South Caucasus.
