Binyam Balcha (Amharic:ቢኛም ባልጫ) born 2 October 2001 in Addis Ababa, is an Ethiopian-American footballer who plays for Premier League club Manchester United. He operates primarily as a winger, but also suits the attacking midfielder position. He is often compared to Thierry Henry due to his skills on the ball and deadly pace. Binyam is known to be one of the best young African-born talents right now and is currently worth 7 million Euros. His international choices are between the USA and Ethiopia; as of current, he has not come to a decision. He is one of the few Ethiopian-born footballers to play in Europe. Binyam is currently playing for the Manchester United 21's side due to his age but is soon to be promoted into the first team and become Manchester United’s first East African player. Binyam holds 7 Man of The Match titles to his name this campaign, going joint top with Hannibal Mejbri. Binyam is well known for his explosiveness and superb skills on the ball, also well known for his distribution of the ball.
Born in Addis Ababa, Binyam joined the youth team of League 1 side Lille in 2018. Considered a late bloomer, Binyam set his sights on basketball at a very young age and pursued a career on the court before later deciding to switch over to the pitch due to his family's desires. Binyam learned the game of soccer instantly, as expected from his coaches, knowing his athleticism and footwork from the game of basketball would transfer over to soccer. In early 2018, Binyam started getting attention from European scouts and later got himself a 1-year contract with League 1 side Lille F.C. Shortly after Binyam's contract ran out with the French Club, he went on and joined Manchester United even though he was receiving multiple proposals to resign with his former club and to join other clubs.
