"Black Lipstick Kiss" is a song released by Random Order in 2014. It was written by Canadian Singer-Songwriter / Lead Guitarist Lynx Dean, and was the lead and first single on the group's 2014 album of the same name.
The song appears in the 2015 film S&M Sally and on its soundtrack.[1]
Writing and recording[edit]
Lynx Dean wrote the song in a New York Hotel room stranded in a Hotel room by five consecutive days binging on Horror films as a result of Sandy hurricane in October 2012.
Composition[edit]
"Black Lipstick Kiss" is a Rock / Ska / Bossanova song. It is written in the key of Em, with a mid tempo of 90 beats per minute (Moderato) in 4/4 time.
Production[edit]
The song was produced by Rob Sanzo during the Spring-Summer period of 2013. The video was produced and released on September 29, 2013. The single and the Album were released a year later January 30, 2014 in Canada,[2] and July 20 in the United States.[3]
Reception[edit]
Although it didn't chart on the Canadian Singles Chart, it did on various College Radio stations.[4][5] The video was nominated ″Best DIY Video″ at ′′′RightOut TV Music and Video Awards′′′ in Vancouver (2014).
This nomination brought the attention of Los Angeles film director Michelle Ehlen to the song, which was a perfect fit for the dungeon BDSM scene in her full length LGBT comedy S&M Sally.
