Bloom (Musical)
Bloom is a 2023 musical with music by Katie Weston a book and lyrics by Tom Gleisner. The world premiere began previews at the Arts Centre Melbourne in the Playhouse Theatre on July 18, 2023, before opening on July 22. The show received positive reviews before closing on August 26.
The story follows Finn, a university student who moves into the aged care home Pine Grove after seeing an advertisement offering free board to uni students in return for helping take care of the elderly residents. He meets Ruby, an optimistic yet over-worked young carer who immediately clashes with Finn's lazy and selfish attitude, and their conflict eventually leads to a resident's choir and newfound romances.[1]

Productions
World premiere - Original Melbourne production (2023)
Currently the only production of the show, the original production started it's previews at the Arts Centre Melbourne on July 18, 2023, before starting its run July 22. It starred Anne Edmonds as Mrs MacIntyre, Frankie J. Holden as Doug, Evelyn Krape as Rose, and Slone Sudiro as Finn. It received positive reviews by most theatre sites, although a small amount of major sites gave mixed reviews, inlcuding The Guardian which gave Bloom 3 stars out of 5. Audience gave praise to this this production, and due to high demand, Bloom extended its run by one week, closing on August 26 rather than August 19.[3]
