Boma Martins Akpore, born 23 January 1987 is a Nigerian-American actor, producer, and reality TV star.[1] He was a housemate in Big Brother Nigeria season 6 as well as a cast in Hollywood's The Blacklist, as well as Nollywood's Unmasked, Brotherhood, amongst others.[2][3]

Background and education[edit]

Akpore is from Ughelli North in Delta state. He was born and raised in Yaba, Lagos state. He is the only child.[4] He was raised by his mother and maternal grandmother.[5] His mother is from Rivers state.[6] He played football in Europe but injury ended in his progression into playing the sport professionally in Scotland. He attended the University of Lagos, but had to drop out in his final year due to lack of funds. He is a graduate of the New York Film Academy.[1]

Career[edit]

Akpore had a stint in modelling, winning the Mr Imperial Universe pageant. He went on into movies and film, featuring in the season 6 episode 16 of NBC's crime TV series The Blacklist. He is on NBC's Law & Order season 20 episode 22 as a member of the snake crew, as well as on Marvel Television's Luke Cage as part of the Shades crew. He is on NBC's Saturday Night Live (Unity Song) season 44 episode 5.[2][7] He also featured films such as Desmond Elliott's Orunsewa and Unmasked. As well as singer Banky W's Love U Baby music video.

He owns a movie production company Bonzy Blues Global Partner launched in the US in 2019.[8][9]


Akpore was the first housemate that was introduced into the house and to the audience in the 6th season of Big Brother Naija on 24 July 2021.[10][11][12] He was the first male head of house during his stay on the show.[13] He was evicted in the seventh week, on day 42.[14]

Akpore suffered a backlash from the public for his romantic involvement with a married woman, Tega Dominic on the Big Brother show.[15][16] He later came out to apologize for his actions,[17][18] and spent some time with Tega's husband.[19]

Personal life[edit]

Boma says he believes 98% of married men in Nigeria are having extramarital affairs.[20] He believes in keeping oneself humble.[5] He was married to one Adetokumbo Owolabi,[21] although they are now divorced.[22] He believes acting and being able to portray a role comfortably is a gift from God, and he feels lucky to have the gift.[23] He suffered from COVID 19 during the pandemic.[24]
