Borrego[1] is upcoming 2022 American thriller written and directed by Jesse Harris. The film stars Lucy Hale, Nicholas Gonzalez, Leynar Gomez, Jorge A. Jimenez and Olivia Trujillo. The film is an action thriller about a kidnaped botanist working in the desert.[2]

Plot[edit]

The film follows a young botanist (Hale) who moves to a small desert town in California to study an invasive plant species, but must fight for her survival when she's kidnapped by an inexperienced drug mule (Gomez) after his ultralight plane crashes in the desert. The nearby small town's Sheriff (Gonzalez), his daughter (Trujillo) and drug receiver (Jimenez) all become intertwined in the odyssey.[3]

Production[edit]

Principal Photography took place in Almeria and the Desert of Tabernas in Spain on October 5, 2020 and ended on November 7, 2020.[4] Additional filming in Borrego Springs, CA took place in the spring of 2021.

Release[edit]

In October 2021, Saban Films acquired the USA and Spanish rights to the film.[5] It will be released in Theaters, On-Demand and Digital on January 14th.[6]
