Brahmrishi Bawra Shanti Vidya Peeth is located in Udhampur, the second largest district of Jammu and Kashmir. It was founded by Brahmrishi Vishvatma Bawra ji Maharaj also known as Guruji by his devotees in 1998 with Swamini Chinmaya jyoti ji as its chairperson. The school is located in a campus of about 10 canals, which was donated by Shri Dina Nath Ji to the mission for opening a school for the welfare of Udhampur city.

About Guruji And Mission[edit]

Gurudev Brahmrishi Vishvatma BawraJi Maharaj from village Kanwal Gyanpur, district Varanasi was the Chief founder and Spiritual Director of the Brahmrishi Mission, which has branches, in addition to various parts of India, in Europe, North America, South America and Caribbean countries.

He studied under the direction of Yogeshvar Bhagwan Chandra Mauli Ji Maharaj. He practised Mantra Yoga, Laya Yoga, Hath Yoga in sequence at Ayodhya, Chitrakoot, Udaipur (Rajasthan) Chintpurni (H.P.) and on the peaks of the Himalayas. He was blessed by yogis including Swami ParamHans Abhayanand Ji Maharaj, YogiRaj Vishudhanand Ji Maharaj, ParamHans Avdhoot Yogi Swami Mani Ram Ji Maharaj, and ParamHans YogiRaj Swami Ram Dass Ji Maharaj.

Many students from different parts of the world come to Brahmrishi Ashram at Virat Nagar, Pinjore, Haryana in India and are not charged. A school for formal education and another school for Sanskrit studies were established. Destitute and orphan children are given free education and maintenance. In this Ashram, a cowshed with 150 cows was organised and a hospital for health care in Ayurveda was established, and printing press facilities were set up. A monthly magazine was started. Many branches of the Mission were opened in different states of India. In 1985, Gurudev established a Metaphysical Science Research Institute in Chandigarh; it became an institute of repute in Northern India, running a college for B. Ed. in Yoga, and O.T. (Shiksha Shastri) based on Sanskrit studies.

Chairman[edit]

Chinmaya Jyoti Ji started with guruji at a very small age. she is originally from Sahnewal, Punjab. She is a Gold Medalist in Mathematics and Sanskrit from Punjab university. She is also known as Badi Didi by her students and staff .

School activities[edit]

The students organise an annual function, teachers day, farewell functions and cultural festivals. Its facilities includes compute laboratories, laboratories for Chemistry, Biology, Physics and a well- resourced library. Transportation to and from the school is provided to students. Students are encouraged and supported to participate in extra-curricular activities including sports.
