The Breakneck Point Trail Marathon is a 26.2-mile mountain race held each April in Hudson Highlands State Park Preserve, New York. A 2023 Times Union feature called it “the most notorious run in the Northeast,” noting over 500 starters and more than 8,000 ft (2,440 m) of vertical gain.[1] The race was selected by USA Track & Field as a U.S. Mountain-Running Team qualifier in 2021 and 2024.[2]
- Mountain Peak Fitness* publishes annual elite-field race recaps.[3]
Course
From Beacon Riverfront Park, runners ascend Breakneck Ridge, Mount Taurus and Sugarloaf Mountain before returning to Beacon; several segments involve exposed Class 2–3 rock scrambling.
