Brent Smedley

Brent Smedley, born January 14, 1971 in Alexandria, Virginia USA, is a heavy metal drummer who currently lives in Jacksonville, Florida, he played drums in the Thrash/Power metal band Iced Earth. He also plays in Out Of Darkness and Tempest Reign, two Heavy Metal bands based out of his hometown. Brent is also a very well-known drum instructor and currently teaches in Jacksonville, USA. Brent also played in the bands Odyssey and Oracle with musicians such as James MacDonough (former bassist for Iced Earth and Megadeth). He is currently endorsed by DW Drums, Sabian Cymbals, Vic Firth Drumsticks, and Evans Drumheads.

Brent also played Drums and Percussion in High School Band from grades 9 thru 12, playing in Marching Band, Symphonic Band, Jazz Band, Concert Band, and Percussion Ensemble. He was section leader in grades 9 and 12.

He has played many different styles of music at gigs for hire as well, including Jazz, Latin, German (Polka, Waltz), Symphonic, Top 40, Rock, Weddings, Musicals, Reggae, Etc.

Brent has toured extensively through out the United States, Canada, and Europe.

He has played on over 20 Albums to date.

Brent has been in Iced Earth three times - from 1996 to 1997, 1998 to 1999, and again from October 2006 to 2021.[1] Brent will tour with Iced Earth in 2007/2008 and record two albums that will be based on the "Something Wicked" story written by the band's rhythm guitarist Jon Schaffer.
