The Brentwood Press (known as The Press since 2020) was a weekly newspaper based in Brentwood, California. It was published by the Brentwood Press & Publishing Corporation, owned by Greg Robinson and Sandie McNulty.[1] Founded in 1999, the Brentwood Press became East Contra Costa's largest newspaper in the early 2000s, replacing Brentwood News. The newspaper publishes every Friday along with its magazines.
History
The Brentwood Press was founded in 1999 in Brentwood, California by Jimmy Chamoures. The newspaper’s office was the former Bank of America building, now known as "The Press building", built in 1913. In 2009, the site’s current website was launched as "thepress.net". Before thepress.net, there was brentwoodpress.com.[2]
On May 29, 2020, the Brentwood Press was merged with other East County local newspapers such as the Oakley Press, the Discovery Bay Press, and the Antioch Press to create The Press.[3] The Press was originally a free weekly newspaper but was converted into a paid weekly newspaper on July 10, 2020.[4]
Special Print Publications
The Brentwood Press has four special print publications: the Welcome! Guide, Best Local Coupons, the Official City Guide Directory, and Best of Brentwood/Oakley Magazines.[1]
