Robert Brett Mellor (4 February 1960 – 2019), known as Brett Mellor, was an English professional footballer born in Huddersfield,[2] and educated at Holme Valley Grammar School, who played as a defender in the Football League for Huddersfield Town.[3] He later joined Barnsley, but never appeared for that club in the league.[4]
Mellor later joined the police force, and subsequently ran a pub.[5] In the early 1990s he managed New Mill FC of the Huddersfield and District Association Football League.[6] In his 50s he experienced issues related to mental health and drunkenness, and appeared in court multiple times.[7][8][9] He died in 2019.[1]
