Brian Cliette (born February 28th, 1987) is an American author, corporate trainer, academic speaker and digital marketing personality. He is best known for his corporate education in the field of digital marketing in the hospitality industry, and is currently the Instructor of Marketing and Social Media at the School of Hospitality Management at Penn State University and is Lead Executive Trainer at the Smeal College of Business.

Cliette is also the author of 12 books, including ‘How to Start a Restaurant without Losing Your Shirt,’ and ‘The Miami Millions Success Guide.’

Education[edit]

He is a graduate of Florida International University’s FIU School of Hospitality & Tourism Management and holds two Masters Degrees, in Tourism Management and in International Real Estate from the T&S Hollo School of Real Estate College of Business.

Career[edit]

In 2008 Cliette served as research analyst and digital consultant for the launch of Zoom Media & Marketing’s ‘Zoom Forward’ campaign. The initiative connected major companies like HBO, Pepsi and Proctor & Gamble with Hispanic and African-American markets in Los Angeles, generating $3 million in profit within 9 months of launch.[1]

In 2012 he was invited to apply for an faculty position at North Carolina Central University’s School of Business, and helped advance the university’s digital distance learning programs. During his time at the college, he developed a number of distance learning courses in hospitality, finance, business, sales and marketing.[2]

In 2014 he transitioned to The Penn State School of Hospitality Management, where he teaches digital media and hospitality management[3] while maintaining a Growth Marketing Manager position at the Andreessen Horowitz funded start-up Pixlee.

Cliette has been recognized for his contributions to digital media education by being invited to speak and educate at corporate events like the FS Tech Conference in Texas, and the HSMAI Digital Marketing Strategy Conference where he teaches audiences about social media in the hospitality industry.[4]

He regularly speaks at digital marketing events and features on experts panels, including The NexGen Loyalty Experience, Pennsylvania State University Social Media Summit, The National Association of College & University Food Services (NACUFS) Conference], NHTV Breda University of Applied Sciences, The Netherlands NHTV Executive Leadership Program and the Shaner Hotel Group Director of Sales and General Management Hospitality Gm/Dos Conference.[5]
