Hunt's research focuses broadly on the social science of environmental conservation, especially the relationship between efforts to conserve biodiversity, the forms of tourism this attracts, and the social, cultural, and environmental wellbeing of surrounding regions[5]. His work has been featured in over 40 peer-reviewed articles and scholarly book chapters, including in the Journal of Sustainable Tourism, the Annual Review of Environment and Resources, and Human Organization. As a Fulbright Scholar[6] in Ecuador, he was hosted by the Charles Darwin Foundation in the Galapagos Islands, and he has also undertaken research there supported by the Cultural Anthropology Program at the National Science Foundation[7]
