Script error: No such module "AfC topic".= Brittany Zimmerman, Yummet = Brittany Zimmerman is the founder, CEO, and Chief Innovation Officer of the start-up company Yummet, which is dedicated to creating and testing carbon capture technology that utilizes bio-waste, sea water, and air as feedstocks to produces potable water, Hydrogen, Oxygen, biochar, and generates electrical power. Brittany brings her multidisciplinary education and background in space science to create self-sustainable systems on Earth. Her goal is to create an example of a circular economy that will work anywhere in the world and is affordable for the vast majority of human beings on the planet.

Brittany founded Yummet in December, 2020.

Early Years and Education[edit]

Brittany holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Milwaukee School of Engineering. Her senior design project, "Aircraft Wing Design and Fabrication".

She holds a Masters Degree in Space Science from the University of North Dakota. Her research focused on hybrid bio-regenerative and physical-chemical life support systems for long-duration spaceflight.

Career[edit]

From November 2016 to December 2020, Brittany was an Aerospace Engineer, Principal Investigator, and Program Manager at Paragon Development Corporation. During that time, Brittany was the youngest person ever to be named a NASA Principal Investigator, leading programs to develop technology to allow human beings to survive long-term in space.

Her research included:

  • Two-phase separation of human waste for the International Space Station
  • Ionomer-membrane water processor to reclaim potable water from urine
  • Thermal control systems for the Dream Chaser and NASA lunar habitats
  • Mathematical modeling of thermal, fluid, and chemical devices for use underwater, in air, and in microgravity spaces, such as the surfaces of the Moon and Mars.
