The broad autism phenotype (BAP) is a subclinical manifestation of autism where an individual has autistic traits, such as rigidity and impairments in social interaction, communication and imagination, but the traits present in the individual are not enough for a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder (ASD).[1] BAP is particularly prevalent in close blood relatives of individuals with ASD.[2]
