Bruce Wilson (born October 19, 1954) is the Director for the West Region of Special Olympics Iowa.[1] Previously, he served as an assistant coach for Iowa Energy of the NBA Development League.

College career

Wilson was the head coach for Simpson College from 1985–2010. Wilson left the college with a record of 341–305 in his 25 years at the helm. Wilson’s teams won the Iowa Conference Championship three times (1992, 1995, and 1998) and made three appearances in the NCAA Division III Championship (1992, 1995, and 1996). Wilson received the Coach of the Year award three times (1992, 1995, and 1998). He was named NCAA Division III West Region Coach of the Year in 1992.[2]

NBA D-League

Wilson was hired as the assistant coach for Iowa Energy in 2010. During the 2013–2014 season, he served as the interim head coach.[3]

Personal life

Bruce Wilson graduated from Simpson College in 1976. He was a student athlete at the college. In addition to his responsibilities as the head coach, Wilson served as a faculty member in the department of Sports Science and Health Education. Wilson and his family are also actively involved in the Special Olympics. On August 25, 2015, he was named as the Regional Director for the West Region of Special Olympics Iowa.[4]
