Warren Rose (born October 19th, 1982[1]), known professionally as Bruse Wane, is a Jamaican American rapper, and songwriter that was born on the Caribbean island of Jamaica. He was raised in the South Bronx section of New York City.[2] He is best known for his his historic Hip-Hop song Venom. The song is important to Hip-Hop's historical record as it features the last studio verse of Hip-Hop icon Sean Price before his death. Bruse Wane is also known for being the latest member of the pioneering Hip-Hop group Mantronix. He is currently the groups lead emcee. Bruse Wane was a key component of Kurtis Mantronik's historic 2023 return to doing Hip-Hop music production. Bruse Wane is also known for his musical work with The Universal Hip Hop Museum.

Early life[edit]

Warren Rose was born on October 19, 1982 on the Caribbean island of Jamaican.[3][4] He grew up in the South Bronx section of New York City in the Bronxdale Houses projects.[5] In an interview he states It is there he was introduced to hip-hop music and culture, as Bronxdale Houses was also the home of one of hip-hop's founding fathers Disco King Mario.[6][7]

Career[edit]

Beginnings (2003–2014)[edit]

During a face to face interview with British Hip Hop artist Blade (musician) Bruse Wane stated that he has been creating Hip-Hop music since the 1990s.[8] His New York City based record label Wane Enterprises was founded in 2003.[9] In a past interview he stated his stage name Bruse Wane stemmed from his early days as a New York City live events promoter.[10] His 2014 appearances on the songs Home of The Spitters with Keith Murray and Beast Inside with Sean Price is seen as his professional debut as a Hip-Hop recording artist.[11][12][13]In 2014 the national American television network fuseTV listed Bruse Wane on their list of 9 professional rappers named after comic book characters.[14]

Breaking Through, & Venom (2015–2016)[edit]

Hip Hop legend and icon Sean Price's death on August 8, 2015 shocked the Hip-Hop world.[15][16] His death made national and international headlines. His passing was reported by CNN, Fox News, Rolling Stone, Billboard and other major outlets.[17] [18][19] Sean Price's verse on Bruse Wane's song Venom is regarded as his last studio verse before his death.[20] [21] [22].The song also features a guest appearance by Big Pun's son Chris Rivers.[23]The song appears on Bruse Wane's Earl Manigault of Rap Album.[24][25] The Hip-Hop media website Ambrosia For Heads cites Venom as the song that truly gave notability to Bruse Wane in Hip-Hop.[26] Upon Venom's release, Hip-Hop's premiere media outlet HipHopDx declared the song an instant classic.[27] The song was also featured on Hip-Hop producer DJ Premier's multimedia website, Premier Was Here. On his website it was also noted that Sean Price's appearance on Venom was more than likely his last guest verse, marking the songs historical significance in Hip-Hop music.[28]

Working With The Hip Hop Museum (2017–2018)[edit]

In 2017 Bruse Wane appeared on the Universal Hip Hop Museums historic 16 Bars 4 Hip Hop Compilation Album.[29][30]The Album was distributed  through Sony Red Distribution. Bruse Wane's songs Ol Head & Stone Age appeared on the album. Other notable Hip-Hop artist that appeared on the album includes Rah Digga, Chris Rivers, Chip Fu of the Fu-Schnickens, & Hakim Green of Channel Live.[31] On January 16, 2018 the international law firm Proskauer honored its lawyers and staff from offices across the United States at its tenth annual Golden Gavel Awards Ceremony. According to the media accounts one of the highlights of that year's ceremony was a live performance by Bruse Wane. Bruse Wane performed one of his songs from the 16 Bars 4 Hip Hop album, for the firm's pro bono client, the Universal Hip Hop Museum.[32][33]

Killa Sound Boy (2019–2020)[edit]

in 2019 Bruse Wane released his song Killa Soundboy.[34][35]The song featured a guest appearance by Hip-Hop artist Papoose.[36][37] Dj Kay Slay premiered the song on his Street Sweepers Radio Show, during a live in person interview with Bruse Wane.[38] It was during this same interview that Bruse Wane and Dj Kay Slay discovered they both shared a mutual upbringing in Bronxdale Houses.[39] During an interview he gave while on tour in London, Bruse Wane revealed  there were plans in the works for him and Dj Kay Slay to make music together.[40]However those plans were derailed by DJ Kay Slays' death due to covid 19 complications.[41][42]

Kurtis Mantronik (2023–present)[edit]

Bruse Wane met Kurtis Mantronik before the start of the COVID-19 pandemic at a music festival in Holland.[43] At the time Kurtis Mantronik's group Mantronix was disbanded, but Mantronik wanted to make a return to producing Hip Hop music. After hearing some of Bruse Wane's music Mantronik decided Bruse Wane was the perfect emcee to make his return to Hip-Hop music production with.[44] In 2023 Kurtis Mantronik made his historic return to producing Hip-Hop records.[45][46] Mantronik reformed his group Mantronix and made Bruse Wane a member, lead vocalist and focal point of the group.[46] They released three Hip-Hop songs together. Bruse Wane was the only artist on the three stand alone songs. The songs were Money Talks,[47]Era Of The AI,[48]and When The Doves Fly.[49]The songs were released jointly by Mantronik and Bruse Wane through the Mantronix's classics label and Bruse Wane's Wane Enterprises Label.[50] Mantonik produced directed and edited three music videos for all the releases.The videos appear on the Mantronix Official YouTube channel, and total over a million views combined. Bruse Wane is a touring musician, he has been touring internationally since 2018. He has toured throughout the United States, United Kingdom and Canada.[51][52] In 2018 he appeared at the Notting Hill Carnival in London on August 26th and 27th. [53]
