Burger Landmarks is an education web application with the Web VR (WebXR) support of virtual reality 360° surround photography, videos, and 3D photogrammetry and presented as a web site. The project was founded as a project for people with limited access to geographic locations. The reality spaces which were with the hard accessibility or needed special skills were accessed with the virtual reality. The initial project was founded by Boštjan Burger in 1993 and named as Slovenia Land of Waterfalls for the nature part and Open-Air Museum – City View for the urban spaces. The project was live in 1996 and under the domain www.burger.si in 1997 and was supported as the significant education project by ARNES (Academic Research Network of Slovenia). The name Burger was by the founder Boštjan Burger and was kept as the synonym for the „Free Man“ - the free accessibility of World Landmarks for all people. The project was since 1997 an industry flagship covering extreme subterranean locations as virtual tours of karst caves, mines, coal mines, pioneering first internet virtual museums, covering all urban places in Slovenia already in the year 1999 and extreme mountain virtual tours of Alps. The project is supporting the geographic expeditions to visualize the geographic locations and present them to the public for free.
The annual budget since 1993-2020 is approximately 50.000 EUROS (~75.000 US$)
